Born in FT. Morgan, CO then moving to Wyoming shortly thereafter, Sean grew up a Cheyenne country boy. Cheyenne, Wyoming is still where he, his wife Amy, and daughter Nelle make their home and his love and pride for the state and the Rocky Mountain Region shows in every aspect of his life. Sean has always indulged himself in music, even thru his college and independent league baseball career. Most of his influence is comprised of country music well-knowns such as, George Strait, Cody Jinks, Chris Young, Merle Haggard, and “Texas Country” artists like Randy Rogers and Chris Knight. When asked what sub-genre of country music he belongs, he simply stated, “none. We do our own thing. I am a country music singer and my band has roots and influences all their own which make this something unique and special. Call it what you will, but, with Sean’s writing style and the eclectic backgrounds of all band members, their original material is indeed something special!
Sean has searched for any and all avenues which to pursue his music career. That career really started taking off as he competed in contests for 97.9 Big Country, winning Big Country Idol in 2012 and Big Country’s version of “The Voice” that same year at Cheyenne Frontier Days. He also won Cheyenne’s got talent for 1007 Kolt FM that same year (2012). That same year, also, American Idol came through Casper, WY where on a “why not” sort of whim, showed up and made the cut! Through the American Idol process he Kept advancing finally finishing in the Hollywood rounds in the top 80 contestants. That opened the flood gates and inspired him to go all-in and search for musicians. He says “I feel blessed to have found the group of people that make up the Sean Curtis & The Divide.” We think as things turn toward the national eye, He and the band are prepared to show the country what ROCKY MOUNTAIN COUNTRY sounds like!!
Sean was awarded the 2016 Entertainer of the Year award at the 2016 Rocky Mountain Country Music Awards. In addition the band took home 2016 Album of the Year with their first album, Kind Of Like Wyoming. Their single, “I Take This Beer” from their debut album, hit the new artist country top 40 countdown at best country radio, and debuted at #9 and reached #8.
